A mixture of 6-(bromomethyl)quinoxaline (3 g, 13.5 mmol) and NaN3 (1.2 g, 18.5 mmol) in DMF (50 mL) was stirred at RT for 12h. The reaction was diluted with H2O (500 mL) and extracted with EtOAc (70 mL*3). The combined organic layers were washed with brine, dried over Na2SO4, and concentrated in vacuo to give 6-(azidomethyl)quinoxaline as a yellow solid which was used in the next step without further purification.
