To 2-methyl-quinoxaline (1 g, 7 mmol) in 1,4-dioxane (30 ml) was added selenium dioxide (2.3 g, 21 mmol) and the mixture heated to 60C for 2 hours. After cooling the reaction mixture, it was filtered over celite and partitioned between water and ethylacetate.
