Quinoxalines (I; R = 2-fluorenyl, p-HOC6H4, p-O2NC6H4, Me, 3-indolyl, 5-indanyl, 2-thienyl, 2-, 3-, 4-pyridyl, 2-furyl; II; R1 = H, NO2) were prepared by treating o-phenylenediamine with either RCOCH2Br, RCOCHO or the corresponding 2-bromo-1-tetralones.
