Treatment of 6,7-dimethoxy-2-chloroquinazolin-4-amine 1 and 7,8-dimethoxy tetrazolo-[1, 5-a]-quinazolin-5-amine 4 with 2, 3- dichloroquinoxaline 2a-e in glacial acetic acid /DMF afford corresponding substituted 6,7-dimethoxy-2- chloroquinazolo[3,4- c]-imidazo-[4,5-b]-quinoxalines 3a-e and 7,8-dimethoxytetrazolo- [1,5-a]-quinazolo-[2,3-c]-imidazo-[4,5-b]-quninoxalines 5a-e. The chemical structures of the newly synthesized compounds have been characterized by IR, NMR, mass spectral and CHN analysis. All the title compounds are subjected to in vitro antibacterial testing against two pathogenic strains and antifungal screening against two fungi. Among the tested compounds, 5b and 5c show significant antibacterial and antifungal activities. Also the compound 3b show significant antifungal activity against Candia albicans.

Synthesis and antimicrobial activity of some new substituted quinoxalines

A number of new symmetrically and asymmetrically 2,3-disubstituted quinoxalines were synthesized through functionalization of 2,3-dichloroquinoxaline (2,3-DCQ) with a variety of sulfur and/or nitrogen nucleophiles. The structures of the obtained compounds were established based on their spectral data and elemental analysis. The antimicrobial activity for the prepared compounds was investigated against four bacterial species and two fungal strains. The symmetrically disubstituted quinoxalines 2, 3, 4, and 5 displayed the most significant antibacterial activity, while compounds 6a, 6b, and the pentacyclic compound 10 showed considerable antifungal activity. Furthermore, compounds 3f, 6b showed broad antimicrobial spectrum against most of the tested strains.

Efficient synthesis of novel 1,2,3-triazole-linked quinoxaline scaffold via copper-catalyzed click reactions

In this work, new derivatives of the 1,2,3-triazole-linked quinoxaline ring system are prepared by the reaction of 2-chloro-3-(prop-2-ynyloxy)quinoxaline or 2,3-bis(prop-2-ynyloxy)quinoxaline with aromatic azides via copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition reactions in the presence of the Schiff base ligands. These reaction procedures have the advantages of high-to-excellent yields, short reaction times, mild experimental conditions, and operational simplicity. The synthesized compounds were screened against the three bacterial strains Micrococcus luteus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Bacillus subtilis. The anti-bacterial activity of 6b against P. aeruginosa was better than that for the standard drug (tetracycline).

Drug candidates for inhibition of HIV-I replication can target Src family kinases (SFK), such as Hck, that interact with Nef protein of the virus.
